C.M. Naim
C.M. Naim is an Indian writer, scholar, critic, translator and teacher, who lives in America. He has taught Urdu all his life but writes mostly in English. He was born in Barabanki (India) and educated in Lucknow (India). He is currently professor emeritus in the Department of South Asian Languages and Civilizations, University of Chicago. According to Asif Farrukhi, he has recently edited a translation of Nazir Ahmed's novel Toba-tun-Nusooh and published Urdu Texts and Contexts, his selected essays which display the range of his interest from the theme of pederastic love in poetry to popular jokes and political history. His version of Mir's autobiography Zikr-i-Mir came out a few years back.
