Bynum, North Carolina

Bynum, North Carolina is an unincorporated community located in northeastern Chatham County. Its most notable landmark is the Old Bynum Bridge (built 1923) crossing the Haw River. The bridge was closed to motor vehicle traffic in 1999 (traffic now crosses the Haw River on the newer Hwy. 15–501 bridge about 1000 feet north), but it still sits along one of North Carolina's designated statewide bicycle routes.
