Buffalo Grove, Illinois
Buffalo Grove is a village located in Cook and Lake counties in Illinois. The town was named for Buffalo Creek, which was itself named for bison bones found in the area.- As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 42,909.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 23.9 km² (9.2 mi²). 23.8 km² (9.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.22% water.
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 42,909 people, 15,708 households, and 11,655 families residing in the village. The population density is 1,802.7/km² (4,666.9/mi²). There are 16,166 housing units at an average density of 679.2/km² (1,758.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 88.70% White, 0.76% African American, 0.06% Native American, 8.43% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.91% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. 3.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 15,708 households out of which 42.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.0% are married couples living together, 6.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.8% are non-families. 22.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.72 and the average family size is 3.23.
In the village the population is spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.2 males.

Four school districts and two high school districts serve Buffalo Grove. The majority of public high school students in Buffalo Grove attend Adlai E. Stevenson High School. Most others attend Buffalo Grove High School.
