BroadVoice

BroadVoice is a Voice over IP (VoIP) company that provides telephone service via a broadband Internet connection. Customers can use their cable modem, DSL service, or other high-speed Internet link to make and receive phone calls using an ordinary telephone. Calls can be made to any telephone number. BroadVoice supplies analog telephone adapters, or customers may also bring their own Session Initiation Protocol ( SIP) devices to use with the service. Examples of SIP devices include the Asterisk PBX, Cisco IP phones, and softphones such as XTen.

BroadVoice, a subsidiary of Convergent Networks, was founded in December, 2003 and is based in Lowell, Massachusetts. David Epstein serves as president, and Nathan Stratton is chief technology officer.
