Sao Paulo's stock market, the Bovespa

Bovespa (Bolsa de Valores do Estado de São Paulo) State of Sao Paulo Stock Exchange Located in the heart of the biggest Brazilian city, São Paulo (city), the Bovespa is the largest stock exchange in Latin America. On an average day, shares valued at R$ 1,221.3 million trade on the Bovespa (in 2004), when US$1.00 = R$2.80 approximately. Established in August 23, 1890 on XV de Novembro Street, it was a public institution until 1966, when it became a non-profit civil association. The Bovespa integrates all the Brazilian Stock Exchanges in several Brazilian capitals, including Rio de Janeiro, where the Government stocks are traded.
