Bon-voyage Bonus

When an unfriendly company owns a large amount of stock in a target firm, the target firm may attempt to regain control through a "Bon-Voyage Bonus". A Bon-Voyage Bonus is a company’s offer to purchase back the bidder’s stock at a substantial premium; in return, the bidder agrees to terminate the takeover attempt. This may also be referred to as a “Greenmail” or a “Goodbye_kiss”.
