Bombing of Coventry
The Bombing of Coventry was a massive raid launched by the Luftwaffe which saw Britain's major armaments production centre decimated. 500 bombers on the night of 14th of November 1940 destroyed most of the city including its catherdal. The station X code breakers decrypted the ultra transmissions regarding the raid. Churchill decided that keeping the secret of British code breakers was more important than the city of Coventry.
The major bombing campaign against German cities, particularly Dresden, was considered by Churchill revenge for Coventry.
