Bolshoy Kamen

Bolshoy Kamen (or Bolshoi Kamen) (Russian: Большой Камень) is a town located in the south of the Primorsky Krai, Russia, at 43°7′ N 132°22′ E, and is the centre of the Shkotovsky District. Bolshoy Kamen is connected with Vladivostok by road and by railway.

  • Distance to Vladivostok by sea: 40 km (25 miles).

Climate

The mean temperature in January is -14°C (7°F), and +24°C (75°F) in July. The mean precipitation is 900 mm (35 in).

Business & industry

There are several plants in Bolshoy Kamen involved in the repair and construction of atomic submarines. Most of the population is employed by these plants. There are three banks and seven joint-venture companies, specializing in ships, shipping, and sea-fishing.
