Bleak Cabal

The Bleak Cabal are a faction of Sigil, an organization based around a particular ideology, in the Planescape campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. Its members are known as bleakers, the Cabal or madmen.

Here's the Bleaker credo: "The multiverse doesn't make sense, and it ain't supposed to."

The faction's main point is that things are just what they seem. Therefore, there's no use and definitely no sense in running around looking for some deep-buried principles of existence in Multiverse.

For someone to join the Cabal, he or she (or it) has got to do three things: quit looking for meanings, accept what happens, and look inward. There's no meaning on the outside, so the question is, "Is there any meaning inside?"

The faction's headquarters are maintained in the Gatehouse, the asylum before the Hive district. Their primary plane of influence is ever-raging, structureless Pandemonium.

Most faction members are considered mad for their views and therefore are not affected by magical spells causing madness or insanity. The downside of this is the following: bleakers are known for their strikes of deepest melancholia. As basher starts to reflect on the uselessness of his own existence, he wouldn't do anything at all unless philosophically convinced by another that it's worth the entropia.
