Blaj
Blaj (Hungarian: Balázsfalva, German: Blasendorf) is a city in Alba county, Transylvania, Romania. It has a population of 20.758.
In Blaj was the first public school in Romanian, in 1754 and the place where the first Romanian language writing with Latin alphabet (until then, Romanian was commonly written with Cyrilic alphabet). Blaj was also the centre of the Romanian illuminim, here being founded the Şcoala Ardeleană society.
