Beausoleil

Beausoleil is a musical group specializing in cajun music. Based in Lafayette, Louisiana, the group is comprised of Michael and David Doucet, Jimmy Breaux, Billy Ware, Tommy Alesi, and Al Tharp.

The band got its name from Joseph Broussard dit "Beausoleil", the leader of the Acadian resistance to British deportation efforts beginning in 1755. Beausoleil was eventually captured, but following his imprisonment managed to lead 193 Acadian exiles to Louisiana before dying in 1765.
