Bealeton, Virginia

Bealeton is a small community in Fauquier County, Virginia, at the intersection of Route 28 and 17. Public schools in Bealeton include Grace Miller Elementary, Mary Walter Elementary, Cedar Lee Middle, and Liberty High.

History

In 1863, Union troops under the command of Brig. Gen. George Gordon Meade ransacked Bealeton, burning buildings and destroying the railroad track and telegraph poles.

In 1936, the Bealeton-Remington Ruritan Club was organized with 42 members. It is the nation's 26th Ruritan club.

Landmarks

Bealeton is the home of the Cedar Lee corn maze. The maze is in the shape of a butterfly. It covers five acres (20,000 m²) and has two miles (3 km) of trail.

Bealeton also has Petal to the Metal, a small, diversified wildlife habitat and farm.
