Bavaria statue
The Bavaria statue is an iron-cast statue of Bavaria's patron saint, located at the border of the Theresienwiese in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, where both the annual agricultural trade fair as well as the Oktoberfest take place each September.
The statue, designed by Ludwig Schwanthaler and built at the foundry of J.B. Stiglmair from 1844 until 1850, is an allegoric impersonation of Bavaria's power and strength, and represents a Germanic amazon.
Inside the statue, a staircase of 66 stairs allows tourists to climb to the top and view Munich from above.
