Bandwidth cap

Many broadband Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Europe have begun to introduce a bandwidth cap. Such a cap will only allow users to download, and in some cases, upload, a specified amount of data over a period of time, typically one month. If the user consumes their alloted bandwidth before the end of the cap duration their service could be restricted by limiting their connection speed or services they can access. Some ISPs allow users to increase their cap as required by paying an additional fee based on the amount of extra bandwidth they have used.
