Bagratuni

(Redirected from Bagratids)



Region (Bagrevand) and family Bagratuni (or Bagratids) that ruled it, of the old Armenia c. 300–800. Representatives of this family ruled Armenia in 886-1045.

Main rulers:

  • Sembat I Bagratuni c. 370
  • Sahak I Bagratuni c. 390
  • Sahak II Bagratuni c. 440
  • Tir or Tirots Bagratuni c. 450
  • Sahak III Bagratuni c. 480
  • Aschot Bagratuni c. 590
  • Pap Bagratuni (son of Aschot) c. 596
  • Sembat II Bagratuni c. 596
  • Varaztirots (son of Sembat II) c. 597
  • Sembat III (son of Varaztirots) c. 640
  • Achot (son of Sembat III) c. 685

Later appear two branchs:

Branch of Dariunq, ruled by Varaz Sahak (son of Sembat II Bagratuni). His succesor was his son Sembat IV Bagratuni, lord of Dariunq, and then his (son?) Achot. About 751, the Mamikonian incorporated Taik to their domains. Dariunq and Khelat were took by moslems. Vaspurakan fell in hand of the family Ardzruni. Later (c. 770) were rulers Sembat and his son Achot Msaker, and Vasak (brother of Sembat).

Other branch was in Taron, ruled by Sahak (c. 750–771) and his son Achot (771).
