Aysun

Son of Sulayman al-Arabi (wali of Barcelona and Girona c. 875-880)

Aysun, together with his father Sulayman al-Arabi, joined Charlemagne's army that was directed to Zaragoza in 788. As Zaragoza had not submitted to Charlemagne, this take hostages between his allies, and between them the own Sulayman al-Arabi. Aysun and his brother Matruh ben Sulayman al-Arabi were allied to the Basques, and in Roncesvalles defeated the frankish army (788) and released his father. It seems that the father remained in Zaragoza and sent to Matruh to govern Barcelona (with Girona). In 780 Sulayman was killed by Husayn of Zaragoza. Then Aysun moved to the loyalty to emir and he participated in the assault to Zaragoza in 781 (that compelled to Husayn to be submitted) and in the subsequent expedition to Basque territories and to Cerdaña, moving then to Barcelona where his brother had to govern now submitted to the emir. Aysun has two servants called Amrus (later general Amrus ben Yusuf) and Sabrit, that later than 785 were converted in serving of Matruh. This revolted soon and took Huesca and Zaragoza about 789, but was killed by Amrus (after this well know supporter of the emir) and Sabrit in 791 or 792.

It is speculated with which could have been made prisoner during the take-over of Girona and sent to Aachen, of where would escape in the year 826, already ancient, to led the revolt of the goths and supporters of the peace with the Muslims (Aissó), but there is no elements that they could demonstrate it, and probably was tried to two different persons with many personal similarities, and with biographical facts that would make possible an identity, but that they proceed mainly of the statements of the historian al-Udri, the one which mixed facts of various eras.
