There are several places in Chile which have Aysen as part of their name. The word is always spelled with a written accent (Aysén) an sometimes is spelled Aisén.

Spelling Note

The only official document which uses the spelling Aysen (without accent mark) is DL-2339 which is the Chilean law with the names of the regions. In other documents either "Aysén" or "Aisén" are used. The spelling "Aysén" is preferred by people living on the region. The spelling Aisén is used by the influential Instituto Geográfico Militar.
