Augusta-Margaret River, Western Australia
The Shire of Augusta-Margaret River is a Local Government Area of Western Australia. It is located in the south-west corner of the state's South West region, approximately 283km south of Perth. The shire covers an area of 2370km² and has a population of about 11,000. It contains two large towns, Margaret River and Augusta, and a number of smaller towns.
Nearly half of Augusta-Margaret River's land area is state forest or national park. National parks include Scott National Park and Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. Other land uses include agriculture, especially dairy and beef cattle; viticulture; and tourism.
