Auchidoun Castle
Auchidoun Castle is a 15th century L-Plan tower castle, 2 miles south-east of Dufftown, Highlands, Scotland now in ruins. It was built for John Stuart, the Earl of Mar ( 1458–79). Destroyed by the MacIntosh clan in 1592, it was rebuilt but by the early 18th century it had been abandoned. There are signs of more ancient, probably Pictish earthworks on the hill that the castle is built on.
