Apple Cinema Display
The Apple Cinema Display is a flat panel monitor made by Apple Computer. The very earliest models ran DVI, USB, and 25v power all through a single ADC connector. Most models use plain DVI, for better compatibility and fewer cables. Older models came in high density plastic frames with an easel-style stand. Newer models have an aluminum stand that matches the look of Apple's Power Mac G5 computers. They come in 20-, 23-, and 30-inch models. While originally intended for only Apple computers, the displays are also compatible with PC computers that are equipped with the appropriate video card. Unfortunately, the 30-inch Cinema HD Display's plug is Dual Link DVI, and as of early 2005 there are no consumer video cards with Dual Link DVI ports. There is therefore a significant technical barrier to the 30-inch display's use with PCs.
