Araña: The Heart of the Spider is part of the Marvel Next line, a set of comic books by Marvel Comics starring young super-heroes.

Araña is a fictional character from the Marvel Universe. She was the star of the restarted Amazing Fantasy comic book in 2004. After her storyline ended with Amazing Fantasy #6 she got her own title, Araña: The Heart of the Spider, starting in January 2005. Araña was created by writer Fiona Avery and artist Mark Brooks, and is based on ideas J. Michael Straczynski used in his run on Amazing Spider-Man.

Biography
Araña's real name is Anya Corazon, a teenager from Brooklyn, New York, where she lives with her father, Gil Corazon, an investigative reporter. She was recruited by a mystical clan called The Spider Society, to become their "Hunter" and fight to preserve world peace. To that end, the Society has gifted Anya with spider-like physical abilities similar to those of Spider-Man.
As a cover for her activities, she works as in intern for WebCorps, the Spider Society's commercial front, set up by a mysterious businessman known as Ezekiel Sims. Her heroic endeavors are supported by Ted, WebCorps' resident hacker, Nina, an aspiring executive, and Miguel, the Society's mage, who recruited Anya to become Araña. Her main adversaries are the Sisterhood of the Wasp.
Synopsis
Amazing Fantasy #1–6 Vol.2
On her first day at Milton Summers High School in Fort Greer Brooklyn, Anya Corazon is recruited by a mystical clan called the Spider Society to act as their agent, a Hunter. A ritual is performed on her by giving a spider-shapped tatto that endows he with spider-like powers. Her father thinks she is an intern for WebCorps. The Sisterhood of the Wasp, adversaries of the Spider Society, also have a Hunter, who fights Araña for the first time.
Anya's father, Gil Corazon who is embarrassed about being called Aranita, It was her mother's maiden name. Works for the New York Herald and has had some major cases. Anya is lying to her father. She is trying to convince him that she has an internship at Webcorps . Anya's father is interrogating Miguel over what sort of 'work' he has lined up for Anya.
Websorps helps Araña with new clothes (i.e. a super-hero costume) various costumes, including Supergirl, the Invisible Woman, Magneto, Spider-Man, The Bride form Kill Bill, Sailor Moon, Wonder Woman and a giant rabbit costume. Anya ditches the lot and decides to make her own costume. Anya costume is red-n-blue sneakers, blue track pants, red backpack, funky red gloves with lots of pockets, she also has on some big goggly sun-glasses. A giant crusty exo-skeleton which covers most of her body (including her head) with a bug-like bluish sort of skin. But with out the equipment like web-shooters or spider tracers, Araña makes a "gadget" that are discs about the size of Anya's palm and have eight red legs that seem to be able to remotely grip objects. Anya swings one around on the end of a cord.

Issues #1 to 6
After Araña and Miguel, have captured Judge Thomas Bandar who been passing sensitive information to the Sisterhood of the Wasp for the Spider Society. Our heroes need to get to the bottom of it. Gil Corazon (Anya's father) is also investigating Bandar for a piece he is writing for the New York Herald. Sisterhood of the Wasp has found itself a new recruit. a fifteen-year-old boy code-named Amun. He comes from a long line of Egyptian assassins and has such formidable skills that he doesn't bother to conceal his identity. At School Anya is walking into school with her friend Lynn, on of her teacher introduces a new student to the class. She calls him Jon Kasiya, but it is obvious to Anya that this is none other than Amun! Who Lynn finds very attractive.
Will at school Amun discoered her secret identity. Gil has a big meeting so Anya is free to travel in a limousine with Miguel and Judge Thomas Bandar. The Sisterhood of the Wasp in a bunch of helicopters in the service and fight start and Gil, is filming the whole thing! As Araña, grabs her father, and runs for it. Amun cannot be bothered to give chase at the moment. Instead, he throws a knife at Miguel and stabs him. Judge Thomas Bandar is shoots dead. By the time Anya returns from taking Gil to safety, Miguel is being loaded into the back of an ambulance. Anya can no longer be around the people who are closest to her, for fear that thay will killed.
Later Araña meets Spider-Man as she is thank of resiging, but she swore an oath. Spider-man ask how she got her powers, The Great Weaver. Spider-man tells her "with great power comes great responsibility" and with every age people are called to be heroes. Araña said "I was born to be a Hunter. not a protector." Spider-man ask what is a Hunter ? Araña said a Hunter
"Strikes first. before the enemy can harm it. The Hunter controls the game. not the other way around. And if the Hunter getrs it right. The Enemy nver gets a chance to hurt those it love."
She gets it. Araña can hear Ted calling for help. She saves Ted. But Amum founds she and thay start fighing. But Miguel's not there to help her hold power back. She almost strangled Amum. Ted stops her. She and Ted go see Miguel.

Trivia
Originally, Araña was supposed to be known as Spider-Girl, but since this ongoing title managed to dodge cancellation consecutively, Marvel decided to ressurect the Amazing Fantasy brand to test the waters for a possible new series featuring Anya.
