Animex
The Animex International Festival of Animation takes place every year in Middlesbrough in the North East of England. The festival has its roots firmly planted in the creative side of the animation business and acts to provide animators, directors, students, artists, designers, writers and educators with a forum in which they can share their knowledge and skills and promote the art of animation.
Animex began as a two-day series of lectures at the University of Teesside in February 2000, and has rapidly grown to a week-long festival held at the end of January with simultaneous events in a variety of locations. Locations include ARC at Stockton-on-Tees, the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art at Gateshead, UGC Cinema in Middlesbrough, the Riverside Stadium, and local schools.
The festival is composed of a number of different events, such as the Animex Student Animation Awards, which takes entries from around the world, Animex Game, Animex Lounge and Animex Talk!, which offer people the chance to meet industry luminaries, and Animex Street and Animex Town, which involve people from the local region.
