Aneka – alias Mary Sandeman – is a Scottish singer who hit number one in the charts in August 1981 with Japanese Boy, which stayed in the British charts for 12 weeks. Unfortunately, this success was only repeated by the song Ooh Shooby Doo Doo Lang. Her other songs include Little Lady, Put Out The Light and Young Generation. She has had modest revival since Japanese Boy was featured in the videogame Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Under her own name, Mary Sandeman has achieved some success as a traditional Scottish folk singer/instrumentalist.
