Andre Cymone

Andre Cymone (born Andre Anderson) is a bassist, songwriter and record producer.

He was the youngest of six children. His father Fred was a musician, and his mother Bernadette a social worker. He started off in a band called Grand Central (later renamed Champagne) which also included his sister Linda and his friends Prince and Morris Day. In the late 1970s he joined Prince's touring band as bassist, but left in 1981 over tensions with Prince. He went on to release 3 solo albums (Livin' in the New Wave, Survivin' in the 80's, and AC). His most successful single was "Dance Electric," a song penned by Prince.

Cymone went on to become a record producer and is better known for producing Jody Watley than for the music he released as a solo artist. He has produced artists such as Pebbles and Adam Ant.
