Geography

The district includes the western half of the newly amalgamated city of Hamilton but does not include any of the city centre. The Area is 744 sq. km.

History

The electoral district was created in 2003, 82.9% from Ancaster—Dundas—Flamborough—Aldershot, 17.1% from Hamilton West.

The incumbent from the majority of the riding, at the time the riding was created, was John Bryden, a Conservative member elected in 2000 as a Liberal. In the 2004 election, Russ Powers of the Liberal Party was elected MP.
