Amstelveen is a town in the north-western Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is part of the metropolitan area of Amsterdam.
The municipality of Amstelveen also includes the following towns, villages and townships: Bovenkerk, Nes aan de Amstel, part of Ouderkerk aan de Amstel.
Dutch prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende started his political career as member of the Amstelveen city council.
Amstelveen has a light rail connection with Amsterdam.
The COBRA Museum is located in Amstelveen.
