Amazon Trio

The Amazon Trio is a set of fictional antagonists in the anime series Sailor Moon SuperS and the corresponding manga. The three members are a subset of the villains called the Dead Moon Circus.

The three members, Tiger's Eye, Hawk's Eye and Fish Eye are named after gemstones of the same respective names.

In the anime, the trio summons lemures—spirits of the dead—from the shadows to help help fight. In the English adaptation lemures are renamed remless; this is probably an honest mistake as the Japanese pronunciation could signify either word.

Tiger's Eye

Tiger's Eye is a long haired blond man in the Amazon Trio. He wears tight pants and a white top. Even in the original Japanese version, he counts to three in english when attacking. His attacks use a whip as his primary weapon.

In Japanese, Ryotaro Okiayu provides Tiger's Eye voice. In English, he is voiced by Jason Barr, in German Oliver Mink ("Tiger Auge") and in Spanish by Yamil Atala ("Ojo de Tigre").

Hawk's Eye

Hawk's Eye is a fictional character in the anime and manga series Sailor Moon.

Hawk's Eye has flaming red hair, a toga, and tights. Hawk's Eye usually wears gray, and he likes to attack adult women and he often gets into fights with Tiger's Eye. His attacks are firebased.

Toshio Furukawa provides the voice for Hawk's Eye in Japanese. In English, he is voiced by Benji Plener, in German by Kai Taschner ("Falkenauge") and in Spanish by Benjamin Rivera ("Ojo de Aguila").

Fish Eye

Fish Eye is the third member of the Amazon Trio. He has a much greater stage presence in the anime. In Japanese, Akira Ishida provides Fish Eye's voice. In the English adaptation the voice is provided by Deborah Drakeford, in German by Simone Brahmann ("Fisch Auge") and in spanish by Vicky Burgoa ("Ojo de Pez").

Manga

The plotline of the manga is quite different and does not involve a Dream Mirror arc. Fish Eye has a very small part, tempting Ami Mizuno in a trap. He and the other members of the Amazon Trio are eventually transformed back into animals. Fish's purported whereabouts are in Mamoru Chiba's fishtank.

Anime

Fish Eye appears in the fourth Sailor Moon series (SuperS), and is an extremely effeminate, young (physically) man who is assigned to work with Tiger Eye and Hawk Eye under the auspices of Zirconia, the main operative of the Dead Moon Circus. Their assignment is to find out who in the city is the host of Pegasus, by capturing and searching through their Dream Mirrors, a sort of physical manifestation of a person's mind. While most of the prospective targets are female, occasionally, a male pops up.

Fish Eye is quite blantantly gay and very effeminate. However, unusual for the character archetype, he exclusively speaks with Japanese masculine pronouns when referring to himself, unless he is in disguise. Unlike his cohorts who are rather machismo, Fish Eye seems to nurse a paradoxical genuine affection for victims (or at least a childish crush) until they give him the amusing and inevitable brush-off. This included the kindly Chiba Mamoru, whom he attacked but was subsequently eager to release afterwards. Fish Eye is also the first of the three to wonder if what they are doing is right, and his wavering loyalty lands him in hot water and is nearly killed by his boss. Midway through the series, he and the others are sublimated into Pegasus' world and given the promise of rebirth as real humans.

Anime, English Adaptation

Fish eye was apparently changed to a woman which is not unprecedented within this adapted series: Zoisite and Zirconia also had their genders changed. However, 'her' voice seemed to waver between effeminacy and boyishness, and the tv version of the dub slightly edited a fairly noticeable scene where Fish Eye is seen without a shirt—placing the chest off-camera. In the uncut DVD, the many references to Fish Eye as "she" are retained. However, the scenes showing the character as a shirtless man are still shown.
