Alytus

Alytus (approximate English transcription [ʌ.lıː.ˈtus], simplified Lithuanian transcription [alītus]; Polish: Olita) is the capital of Alytus County, Lithuania, with 70,000 inhabitants. It is situated in the south of the country close to the Belarusian border. Alytus is the historical center of the Dzūkija region.
