Alt.starfleet.rpg

alt.starfleet.rpg is a play by e-mail writing community with origins in the Usenet newsgroup of the same name.

Founded in 1991, the group originally used the newsgroup to spawn collaboratively written "threads" of fiction. Over time, the newsgroup became a place to archive stories and attract new members, but the official story threads were distributed primarily through e-mail distribution lists. Since 2000, the community also maintains an archive on Yahoo! Groups.
