Alfred LeConey

Jeremiah Alfred LeConey (November 3, 1901 – November 11, 1959) was an American athlete, winner of gold medal in 4x100 m relay at the 1924 Summer Olympics.

Alfred LeConey won the AAU championships in 220 yd in 1922 and won, as a Lafayette College student, the IC4A championships in both 100 yd and 220 yd in 1922.

At the Paris Olympics, LeConey ran the anchoring leg in American 4x100 m relay team which took the gold medal with a world record of 41.0.

After the Olympics, LeConey covered the 100 yd distance in 9.4, but the effort was later disallowed when judges ruled that the time was wind-aided. In 1932 he received an unusual honor when a picture of him at the 1924 Olympics was used by the U.S. Post Office in developing a commemorative stamp.
