Akdamar Island (also known as Ahktamar, Aghtamar, and Aght'Amar, [1]) is an island situated in Lake Van in eastern Turkey. It is the home to the 10th century Armenian church, called Cathedral Church of the Holy Cross. The church was built by Bishop Manuel under King Gagik I, between AD 915–921.
