Antonis Samaras

Antonis Samaras, also spelt, Adonis Samaras (born 1951) is a Greek politician and Member of the European Parliament for New Democracy; part of the European People's Party.

He was Greek Foreign Minister in the Nea Demokratia (New Democracy) government of Konstantinos Mitsotakis (1989-1992). Hardliner on the "Macedonian Question" and on other "national" issues, dreaming of an "orthodox arch" on the Balkans. After being removed from his post in 1992 over the Macedonian Question, Samara founded his own party, "Political Spring", located politically to the right of New Democracy, which has been out of parliament since 1993 and was later closed. He returned to his old party and is currently an MEP.
