In 1982, only one year after Gold Eagle acquired the rights to the Mack Bolan series, they released the spin-off series, Able Team. As one of the two neutralization teams working for Stony Man farm, Able Team is composed of Carl "Ironman" Lyons, Rosario "Pol" Blancanales, and Hermann "Gadgets" Schwarz. The series was written under the penname of Dick Stivers and ran from 1982–1991. It was then when Gold Eagle decided to put both Able Team and Phoneix Force together, in what would be come the Stony Man series.
