Aaron Montgomery Ward
Aaron Montgomery Ward (February 17, 1844 – December 7, 1913) was an American businessman notable for the invention of mail order.
Originally a clerk and travelling salesman for Marshall Field, he figured out that rural customers could obtain products more cheaply through the mail, and in 1872 established the first mail-order business.
Montgomery Ward eventually became a major department store.
