High School Career
At Logansport High School in Logansport,Indiana,Aaron Heilman was an All-State selection in baseball.
College Career
After a successful college career at the University of Notre Dame, he was drafted by the New York Mets in the first round of the 2001 amatuer draft.
MLB Career
He made his major league debut at Shea Stadium on June 26, 2003 in a 6–1 loss to the Florida Marlins. Since then, he has mostly failed to live up to his potential in the majors, posting a record of 3 wins and 10 losses and a 6.36 ERA through the end of the 2004 season. However, on April 15, 2005, making a start in place of the injured Kris Benson, Heilman pitched a masterful one-hit 4–0 complete game shutout victory, also against the Marlins.
Heilman is married and resides in Port St. Lucie, FL.
