AMD K8

The AMD K8 generation of CPUs will be the successor to the AMD K7 generation of CPUs. K8 is the first implementation of the AMD64 64-bit x86 (x86–64) architecture.

The K8 Family of chips is not a large move away from the K7 Family. The most radical change is the integration of x86–64 instructions and a on-chip memory controller, eliminating the northbridge you see on k7 motherboards and Intel motherboards.
