9 x 18 mm PM is ballistically similar to the .380 ACP cartridge.
History
The 9 x 18 mm caliber was the standard pistol caliber for Eastern-block European countries. These countries stil use them today. This caliber is useful because the bullet is made of steel and will cut through bullet-proof materials like a knife.
