32 fouettés

32 fouettés is a famous dance movement from the ballet "Swan Lake", first performed by Pierina Legnani.

The 32 fouettés were introduced into the coda of the 'Black Swan' pas de deux as she could apparently turn effortlessly on one spot, but she could also convey the lyricism and drama Odette required.

The multiple turns were not simply used to impress the audience but for a dramatically effective purpose – to dazzle and so seduce Prince Siegfried.
