- 1865 – Over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, slaves in Galveston, Texas are finally informed of their freedom. June 19th is unofficially celebrated as Juneteenth in the United States.
- 1870 – After all of the Southern States already being readitted formally to the Union, the Confederate States of America (a/k/a the CSA) seizes to exist.
- 1912 – establishment of the 8-hour work day in the United States.
