• February 9 – Brian de Valera, the third son of Eamon de Valera dies tragically in a horse-riding accident aged 21.
• March 5 – 500 delegates attend the Fine Gael – United Ireland Party Árd-Feis in Dublin. W.T. Cosgrave is once again nominated as its president.
• April 4 – A dispute between two unions over who makes coffins results in the coffin of an abandoned infant being turned away from Glasnevin Cemetery.
• May 27 – Aer Lingus makes its first flight. The five-seater plane, Iolar, travels from Baldonnell to Bristol.
• May 28 – The Dáil passes a motion abolishing the Senate of the Irish Free State.
• June 20 – The IRA is declared an illegal organisation by the government.
• November 20 – General Eoin O'Duffy leads 600 men to fight for the nationalists in the Spanish Civil War.
