- March 14 – A lynch mob storms the jail hanging 11 of the 17 Black Hand members suspected in the murder of New Orleans police chief David C. Hennessey, who had been investigating a gang war between two rival Mafia groups, are acquitted however many were still awaiting trial. For the first time the possibility of an Italian secret criminal organization operating in New Orleans is discussed in the United States.
